Dia de seis meses y muchas cosas!!!
Why hello there!!
So what’s up? First off, I gotta give shout outs! Happy 17th B-day TanMan! and Happy Father's Day!!! This week was really good, not much teaching though. Just kind of busy with other stuff. It’s cooled down because it’s been storming, but it is just more humid. So not much of a difference! All is well. I'm just loving life out here. I mean I lose desire sometimes but I just work through it. This week is transfer week so ahhhh. I hate transfer week. It’s nerve wrecking to find out where I'll go. I think I'll stay here, but we'll see! Also, thanks so much for the package! Don't worry! I didn't get off my diet for it! I just eat a candy bar about every other day or my companions will third it with me! But that was so nice of you guys to send that to me. Thanks for always being so thoughtful! I love you all. Well, I'll get into the week! It will be short because not much happened!
Tuesday - We woke up at 4:45 am to go to zone conference in Lincoln! When I saw the capital building in Lincoln and saw my old stomping grounds I teared up a little. Just Kidding. But I do miss Lincoln. I love that place. It was good to see everyone in the old zone. Elder Hudspeth and Knight, especially - my good buddies over there. So it was fun. Zone conference was really good. We learned a lot about using the Book of Mormon, which is key! Then after zone conference, which ended at like 6, we drove back here and just chatted it up with the missionaries who stayed with us that night. (because we arrived in Kearney around 9). So ya!
Wednesday - We had exchanges with Phillipsburg Elders. The whole time Brother Anderson, from Holdrege, picked us up and we went to Holdrege and down south. We only taught 2 people, but they were both committed to coming to church. So it was good. We ate at Subway. While at Subway, we all got full size sandwiches and he was like, “How can you guys eat all that?” We' said, “..uh. we're young?” Anywho, after we got back, we went and gave a less active a blessing of comfort. I hope it helped her. It’s awesome how the priesthood is, you could not even know a person and through the Spirit, the Lord directs the blessing! Not much that day though.
Thursday - We woke up worked out with Elder McClain and Howard and then we drove down to Philipsburg, Kansas to pick up Elder Stevens! So I've now touched every state in my mission. It was like a 2 hour drive. It was good. We arrived there and saw that they have a huge apartment! It’s like as big as our downstairs. I'm not even joking! Huge! We ate some lunch - some Omaha Steaks (a member gave us money) and we went on our way! I just slept in the car. Then we taught Lisa! - our only set! We just read a conference talk. She said that it hit home for her. She's so golden. Now only if we could get her married! Ater that, we made some dinner. We've been eating a lot of healthy meals. It’s great! Then after dinner, we went and visited some recent converts with the bishop.Which was good to see, because our ward is pretty lazy about team ups, even the bishop. But he's new, so he got out with us, which was great! Then we went home!
Friday - I can't remember all too well what happened, but I know we taught Lisa again. We've taught her so much. We are running out of ideas. So we are just going through the conference talks. Then we taught Shalia the Plan of Salvation. She's hard to get past. But I think that the plan really kind of opened her eyes that this life is a probationary state and there is stuff after! We still need to get her set for baptism though. Then we ate dinner: rice, meat, carrots, and grapes. What’s up? I'm just cooking like nothing else right now. Then we saw April. She's kind of slacking on her reading, but I hope she gets it up. Then we saw Mike. He is a crazy guy. We're going to stop seeing him. He told us that he's "an enemy to God." So ya. Pretty messed up, but he wants his kids baptized! So I don't know. He was endowed in the temple but went anti. So ya. Crazy peeps!
Saturday - This day I think we worked the hardest ever! We traveled to Ravenna to see some past investigators and also to see some less actives. We knocked and knocked and knocked and not one person answered! It was horrid. Granted, there was a fair going on, but even there, no one wanted anything! Oh well. But we found a town, Gibbon, it’s packed full of Hispanics. So we are going there this week and I'm going to get some more investigators for me. After a day of knocking, we had dinner with the Berlou's. Burgers. I was starving. It was good to eat. Then after that, we had our pre-correlation meeting with Brother Hatch. He is bomb. I like that guy. It was a good meeting. We're trying to get the ward back up to speed on missionary work and home teaching. It’s hard, but we'll see!
Sunday - We show up at correlation meeting and only Brother Hatch and we were there. Disappointing. And I guess only like 2 people went to ward council. It’s disappointing. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, dad. But ya. So we went and had our routine breakfast with Papa Mike. It was delicious, as always! Then we had church. None of our investigators showed up. Gosh! Just a bad time. So after church, we cooked a huge meal and ate it and took a power nap. Then Alberto called - the drunken Mexican. So we went over there. He's crazy. Then we saw April, and then we contacted a referral. His name is Frank. He's from Ghana! He's cool. We didn't teach anything, but we placed a Book of Mormon! So hopefully he'll be a future investigator! After that, went home and my companions got the numbers and we went to sleep.
Monday - woke up and went to the Y for like 6 hours today..Awesome time. And tonight we don't have anything set. Monday's are like that though. So we'll see!
Well, that’s it for today. Thanks for all your love and support! You guys are all just great! I love you all and hope you have just a great week. Be safe and have loads of fun for me! I'll just work my little booty off for all ya'll! Love ya!

Thursday - Service in the library, like usual. Then we taught Lisa about repentance. She's so golden, except she needs to get married - which we hope will happen soon enough. It’s hard when they've been living together for 6 years , ya know? But after the lesson, we went snake hunting! (Mom, the snakes here are twice as big and they have a orange stripe down the middle!) But we found it and we killed it. Lisa's little girl starting crying, because she likes snakes. We laughed. It was pretty funny. Then we had a meal at the Hall's house. It was good. This little girl, Madi, she is so funny! Oh gosh, they put a plate of cookies out, we just kept giving them to her. Wow, that made her hyper. We were laughing so hard because we sat at the little kids table - Stevens and I. We have a lot of fun together. Elder Stevens is so bomb. We work hard and we have fun while doing it. I love it here with these guys.
Friday - I don't remember much from this day. We saw Dave....he was really distraught still from President Kunz. But, yeah, he's difficult, so we just left. We also taught Shalia about faith and prayers because she says she never gets answers to her prayers. So we helped her out, which was good, because she was doubting the church. Then we had dinner with the Snyders. They are from Utah. They gave us pizza. I swear everyone gives us pizza. At night, some wicked, awesome, lighting storms. The storms here are so loud and so cool. I guess there were like 3 tornados around Kearney - and we missed them all! Dang!
Saturday - We did service like none other. We set up for a wedding, cut priest's hair, and pulled weeds (Man, I thought I would never pull weeds again. But it came.) at the Berlou's. Wow. But they fed us after. It was so hot and crazy. It took forever, but all was good. Brother Berlou gave us Steeler stuff. I got a pen. Man, that guy is so crazy. It’s so funny to be there. if you only met him, wow, “Grade A” hick. Just great stuff. Kearney is so hick. It’s great though. I love everyone. But the ward is weird. Oh well. Then we had our pre-coordination meeting at night. It was good.
Sunday – So we had our coordination meeting - no one comes! It was just the Ward Mission Leader and Ward Missionary and us. Booo. So ya. So we had Papa Mike's Waffles and then went to church. Wow. It’s so interesting there. Guess what we discussed in priesthood for 30 minutes - If we should have the overflow open or closed. Ridiculous things But after church, we had pot luck. It was really yummy!!! Man. I love food. Sunday is my food day off. So yeah! I went to town!
Well fam, so guess what? I hit my 6 month mark this week!!! Has it really been six months? It hasn't felt like it at all!!! But yeah, I am loving it out here. I love you all and love all that you do for me and for the Lord. Keep magnifying your callings and feeling the Spirit and the Lord will surely bless you. Because this is an important work for us to do in this life. I love you all. Have a great week!!!

Semana de No Se. ha
SUPPPPPPPPPPPP FAM!!!!!!!!
So how are all of ya? Seems like things are kicking busy as usual in the house. Crazy. That’s fun though! So this week was mild, yet crazy. I don't know how to describe it. But Elder Stevens and I have been working out hard core! I am getting in shape. We work out from like 6-730 and then we do cardio at night until like 1015. It’s pretty crazy. Watch out Tanner, here I come!!! Ha-ha. And, of course, we work all day too, so I've been slimming down a lot! Anywho. Now going into the week. It will be short updates today. I'm trying to cut things down a bit, but probably won't happen. I just love you guys so much. I love talking to you. You know me - chatterbox!
Tuesday - So this day was busy, but it wasn't. In the morning, we just GQ'd people looking to improve our pools. Then the Kearny West Elders called; Elder Gallagher was sick. So we had to go see if he was alright, and after that, we had interviews. My interview went really well. President Kunz is a way cool guy. I like him a lot! But during my interview, my companions went to our appointment, because things ran late. So I went over to the Kearney West apartment with President Kunz. Not much. I was Just driving with the president all day. We had some cool talks. After that, President Kunz came on exchanges with us – Because we're ZL's. I'm the ZL secretary, we decided. ha. First stop - Carlson's Steak!!! Gosh, so much food for us. I loved it. Then we went to Rachel and Remington's. They are difficult to teach - distractions everywhere. So it was hard. Then we went and saw Shayla. She's progressing, but hitting kinks. She's pregnant and stuff. But yeah, she's going well. I hope I can see her get baptized. Then we went and saw Dave. He's crazy!!! President Kunz threw down on him! Like straight up taught the lesson and shut Dave up. it was so awesome. After that, he was like, “Sorry. I felt that I needed to shut him up.” We all laughed. Then we planned with President Kunz. It was weird, but after that, he gave us all compliments and said that was the best exchange he's ever been on! That was probably the best day!
Wednesday - We mowed John Eden's lawn (and lawn's are huge here! gosh.) But it was fun because he had no idea. I mowed the front then I just played with his pitbull, Molly. I love dogs. It was a big dog. but I had so much fun with her. I was smelling after though. Who cares. Then we ate lunch with a member. We had pizza. Then we went and saw Shalia. We see her a lot. She is really stubborn, yet loves when we come. Then we went with Brother Anderson to Holdrege – it is pretty much almost to Kansas!!! We went everywhere tracking down less actives for the Holdrege Branch because it’s in our area. Fun day though. We went to this po-dunk diner. This girl was like flirting with us. It was so awkward..... so we left.

Bueno Familia!
Sup Fam!
So, yes, this week was a lot better. I actually really enjoyed this week a lot! We have a lot of fun together as a companionship and we did a lot of work. We doubled our numbers this week - more than we had before. We have two people set for baptism. But they are set right after the transfer. And I, most likely, will not be here. But we will see for sure what goes on. You never know. Maybe I'll stay another transfer. I do like it here in Kearney, but I miss the big cities with lots of Spanish and such. But my companions are way awesome. We all motivate each other to work, and to “work-out” as well. It’s a great time here in the boonies!
Wednesday - So we had the AP's show up this day for exchanges and the first thing we did was go to North Platte. That is the closest to home I'll ever be. There were signs on the road way saying Denver and Salt Lake City. I was like wow! So we drove out there (a 2.5 hr drive) and went to their district meeting to check up on stuff. We ate lunch and drove back. A long day of driving. Then we split up; I went with Elder Howard and Elder Thornock. Thornock is an AP. He's way cool. We had a fun time and we taught Lisa George, who is set for July 10th. We just read scriptures with her. Nothing too cool. Then we had dinner, and then went to Shalia's! - our other set for June 26th. We taught about the Atonement and it was way good. She has a ton of questions but we answer all, straight out, and how it’s supposed to be. Elder Thornock is the man. He's awesome. Then after that, we saw Alberto, my Spanish investigator. He was hammered. He was pouring us some water and poured it all over and then collapsed in his chair. Wow, it was so funny. Dunk Mexicans just make me laugh. I taught him, but not much. After that, we went and saw Dave, who is an investigator, but he's just crazy. He's the funniest guy ever. He just won't commit to anything. His wife is a member, but that’s all really. He's a funny guy though. Then we went home and we all went for a run at night. My shin splints were killing me again, so I walked quite a bit. I don't know what the deal is, but this is the worst they've ever been. So now I've been working out my legs a lot to see if it improves, but that day was a great day.
Thursday - We went to Grand Island to pick up a car for the other Elders here in Kearney. Good little road trip. I just sit in the back seat and sleep most the time. After that whole day ordeal, we went to the Belou's. (hicks) I love them though. We had some good food: chicken fried steak. Oh man it was good. It’s hard though because I'm dieting. But whatever. Then after that, we saw Lisa again and just read the scriptures. She's Guatemalan, but she doesn't remember Spanish. I say some things anyway. She's golden except the only problem is that she lives with the father of her child - not married. But we're working on that, so she can get baptized. Then we saw Rachel and Remington. We just watched The Restoration in their trailer and answered some questions. A very short lesson because it was late. But that was a busy, good day.
Friday - Now this day we taught 5 lessons. An even better day. We taught April (a recent convert) & Mike (pothead, less active, he's really funny though and knows a lot about the gospel, but he's possessed or something, really though, we think he is) Then we taught Lisa again, we watched the movie Together Forever. It’s so old school. It’s funny though. It was a good flick. Then we taught Dave a lesson on swearing. He doesn't really listen, but, oh well, we're just like taking it slow with him. So in the long run, he'll just be converted. We then we went home. We were pretty tired this day, but it was a good fun day of working!
Saturday - We went to Lisa's house and did service at like 8 am! Her sister is moving here, so we helped them out for like 2 hours. Then we went to the library and did service for another 2 hours. Then we went straight to studying, so we could get that in for the day. After that, we tried to see some people, but nothing happened. So we went to this “going away party” for this kid in our ward. He is going to the St. George Utah Mission. I was like, “St Geezy is the place.” It was fun. After that, we went to another dinner at April's. There was this guy there, excommunicated and just got out of jail. He said, “Give me a scripture saying that my mom still loves me, and I'll start taking the lessons again and working on getting back into the church.” So I flipped open my scriptures and just read him Proverbs 1:8-25. I honestly can't remember what it said, but it was pretty blunt. Right after that he just said, “When can we start? And I said, “Uh, today, or tomorrow come to church.” It was really cool and spiritual. Then we ate food again. Wow! We were really beat. The excommunicated guy, though, I guess, he does that all the time. But hey, I tried my best. Then we went to see Rachel and Remington. I guess Remington looked up YouTube and just watched this thing on Mithra. Gosh, it was dumb. So we told him what’s up and he said he'd go to lds.org and see what’s up. (We meet with them tonight. so we'll see!)
Sunday – We had correlation meeting in the morning at 8. Then we attended church. None of our investigators or less actives, that we invited to church, came. Not good. So we didn't have to teach anything. So we just went to class, like normal. During Priesthood Meeting, though, we stood in on a kid getting the Priesthood. He really respects us. Which is cool. I don't know him. But I'm glad that I'm worthy priesthood holder and can do that. Then we went to the YW class and taught them a bunch of stuff about sharing the gospel. I got to teach on the language barrier. Go figure. After church, we ate at Papa Mike's house. So yummy - waffles. Then we went off to see people. No one was home all day, except April. That was a good lesson; we had Papa Mike with us. So it was cool. But nothing much happened there.
Monday - Today. We woke up, studied, then went to YMCA and played b-ball with some old-timers. They wasted us! My shins killed again. Then we played some racquetball. We got in our work out, took a steam, and went on with the day. Tonight, we have a dinner with a family! Then we have two appointments with investigators. So yeah, we’re just keeping busy in the land of Kearney.
Well, thanks for all the love and support you all give me. I love you all so much! The gospel is so vital in our lives and I hope you all strive to keep the Spirit with you. It’s so important. I love the work that I'm doing and I know that it is all for a good purpose! I hope you all have a great week! I love you so much!
